About Kimbra Leigh
Lyricist/Author
Kimbra Leigh prefers to write songs for others to sing and perform. However, she decided to take it upon herself to learn to sing them. She is currently picking and choosing what songs to do background vocals for. As she continues on her journey, battling MCI and using writing, music, and singing as her "weapons of choice" she continues to improve in all areas.
As she has written and is transparent about, she uses AI as a creative extension of her art and as an avenue to get her words out. Because she just doesn't want to put AI generated songs with her lyrics out there, Kimbra Leigh shows "the public" that she is at least trying to be even more a part of the music...in addition to the lyrics. The videos may not be perfect, but with each one she makes, she improves. And with each improvement, her battle against MCI decreases...just a bit, but she'll take it!
Her lyrics are unique, full of heart and raw emotion--something that she's never been afraid to delve into. Ever since she can remember, Kimbra has always had a passion for writing.
She is a happily married mother of three grown children who has recently retired from her career as an engagement director/ regional peer mentor for those beautiful beings living with dementia and Alzheimer’s. The beauty, the joy, and the love that she was fortunate enough to experience within the world of those living with dementia and Alzheimer's fuels some of her songs. Currently writing a plethora of lyrics, three screenplays, a novel that coincides with the Come Home to Me country ballad, and co-authoring a children's series, she is excited about all of the projects coming to fruition. Additionally, her first book, With a Stroke of the Pen, is getting a makeover. It will be re-published under Rakeman Broomer (Arts) within the coming months.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to visit the Rakeman Broomer site. May you always remember to smile. Life is too short not to, and may you always remember that a small act of kindness can last a lifetime to the person you were kind to.
Kimbra Leigh's Former Career
Memory Care Program Director
This is one of Kimbra's favorite photos from her time working with her beautiful friends living with dementia and Alzheimer's. The enthusiasm she put into singing and dancing with them and into just having every day normal interactions with them is now put into her songwriting, her book writing, and her art. Life is so precious. There is no time to waste.
She has many fond memories from her career, but most of them involve her achievements that go hand-in-hand with the residents... like their karaoke nights when money was tight or when things shut down quickly and like the art that was learned to an exceptional level and then put on display in an art show/silent auction that raised over $3500 for the Alzheimer's Association.
Most of all though, it was the quiet moments when tears were brought to smiles, and those smiles turned into laughter, and that laughter turned into singing and dance and just pure, unadulterated joy. She tries to bring a little bit of that to you through her words now.
